
September 27 at 2:00pm – Great Valley Museum – Songs of the Valley is a collaborative concert between Opera Modesto and the Great Valley Museum – inspired by the Museum’s wonderful collection, where the concert will be performed!

The program will be a joyful, serious, fun and very unique celebration of the Great Valley Museum’s wonderful collection and the San Joaquin Valley itself. The audience will be invited to join in on a couple of fun nature-related songs!
Composers represented in the concert include: Amy Beach, Dave Brubeck, Johnny Cash, Edward Elgar, Armstrong Gibbs, Félix Godefroid, Deborah Kavasch, T hurlow Lieurance, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Charles Oberthür, Modest Mussorgsky, Ottorino Respighi, Franz Schubert, Stephen Sondheim, and John Thomas. Plus, a couple of traditional folk songs! Animals, birds, butterflies, bees, plants, fish, dinosaurs…and much more…will be celebrated and featured through song, music and museum displays
VIP ticket holders will enjoy a reception with wine and small bites prior to the performance, starting at 1:00, with a special “Birds of the Valley” talk hosted by Opera Modesto’s resident birder and collaborative pianist Diego Bustamante. VIP ticket holders will also have access to priority seating.
Audience members will also be able to enjoy a gallery of nature themed artwork created by Modesto Junior College in the lobby prior to the performance.
