La Traviata is Verdi’s twisting love story that explores class, fate and sacrifice, with heartbreaking consequences. Elegant. Emotional. Unforgettable. Violetta holds court at every party in Paris, but beneath the grandeur lies a fatal disease. Will her time run out before she knows true love? Verdi’s timeless story renowned for its soaring arias and heart-wrenching ending, proves how “love is the heartbeat of the universe.”
Please note La Traviata will be sung in Italian with English supertitles. What are supertitles? Supertitles are like subtitles for opera, making the experience more accessible and fun. They can be found projected on to a screen above the stage!

What should I wear?
Whatever makes you comfortable! Unless otherwise stated, Opera Modesto has no dress code.
Will I understand it?
Yes! La Traviata is sung in Italian with English supertitles projected above the stage, so you won’t miss a thing.
When should I arrive?
Come early and enjoy our complimentary Opera Insights talk one hour before curtain: 6:30 PM Friday and 1:00 PM Sunday.
How long is the performance?
About 2 1/2 hours, including intermission.
Where do I park?
The Gallo Center is located at 1000 I Street in Downtown Modesto. Street parking is available as well as parking garages located at 820 12th Street, a short one block walk from the venue. Parking is $5, cash only. The covered facility has an attendant during performance hours.
